A safe home that stands strong through extreme weather. Clean water available when needed. A safe and hygienic toilet. These may be simple essentials, but for many families in Vietnam, they can make a lasting difference to their health, dignity, and hopes for the future.
On 30 September 2026, Habitat for Humanity International in Vietnam (Habitat Vietnam) gathered with local partners, authorities, and families in Tân An Ward, Tây Ninh Province, to celebrate the completion of the project “Improving Community Health through Housing and WASH Support.”

Ms. Hiep, representative of Habitat Vietnam, reported on key achievements and outcomes of the project.
Working alongside local authorities, community partners, and 71 participating families, Habitat Vietnam, with the generous support from corporate partners, has successfully supported:
- Built 5 new homes
- Constructed 27 sanitation facilities
- Installed 39 water tanks, each with a capacity of 2,000 liters
- Provided 3 training sessions on construction, clean water, sanitation, and environmental hygiene for all participating households
These practical support and training sessions helped families learn how to use and care for their new facilities, ensuring that the improvements can continue benefiting them for years to come.

Training sessions organized to help participating families apply safe construction practices and utilize the new facilities.

Before the closing ceremony, Habitat Vietnam team visited participating families as part of the post-project evaluation. It was an opportunity to listen to the community’s real voices and experiences, see how the new homes and facilities were being used, and better understand the changes in their everyday lives.
What we witnessed went beyond completed houses, toilets, and water tanks. Families now have safer spaces to live, more reliable access to water, and healthier conditions in which their children can grow. Most importantly, they can move forward with greater security, confidence, and dignity.
“We are very happy and grateful for the support from Habitat. The new toilet has made our home cleaner, safer, and more comfortable. It has improved our daily lives and helped create a better environment for our family and community.”– Mr. Nguyen Van Duc shared.
“Having a new house has changed our lives. My children now have a safe place to live and study, and we no longer worry about the impacts of rain or extreme heat. This gives us confidence and motivation to work harder for our children’s future.”– Mr. Ngo Huu Muon shared.
These achievements were made possible through close collaboration among Habitat Vietnam, the Tây Ninh Union of Friendship Organizations, the People’s Committee and Women’s Union of Tân An Ward, local community representatives, and participating families. Their involvement throughout the project, from household consultation to construction and maintenance, helped ensure that each solution responded to families’ needs.

Representative of local authority delivered Letter of Appreciation to Habitat Vietnam for community development work in Tan An ward.
The closing ceremony marked the end of the project, but the positive changes will continue. Habitat Vietnam is proud to have walked alongside the families of Tân An ward on this journey and grateful to every partner and community member who helped turn safer homes and healthier living conditions into reality.
