Mr. Bon

The family thought having a simple, safe and decent home was only a dream. But thanks to Habitat for Humanity and Techtronic Industries, their dream of a new house, a new chapter and a brighter future came true. Lien shared her hopes for the future: “I pray every day that my children are healthy, that my little child can  go to school like his friends and hope that I and my husband are healthy too, in order to work to earn money for the whole family.”

“We only get to meet our children several times a year. This year, I thought we would just come home a few days to celebrate Tet with them. When we were about to leave, the pandemic outbroke severely in Ho Chi Minh city. I lost my job as my employer returned to his country, and it is difficult to find another one against the pandemic background. My husband and I discussed carefully and we decided to move back home to live with our children.” – shares Dam.

The young couple does not have the labor skill for factory jobs, nor enough saving to setup a home-based business.

“I was so frustrated with the scream of kids, street vendors, and neighbors falling into the river when they crossed the old bridge” Ms. Ly shared with heartfelt concern. Witnessing the challenges faced by her community, she knew it was time for action. That was when she joined hands with the PASSA group, a team of fifteen local champions in Giong Rieng District, Kien Giang Province, working side by side with Habitat for Humanity Vietnam to create a safer and stronger community.“I was so frustrated with the scream of kids, street vendors, and neighbors falling into the river when they crossed the old bridge” Ms. Ly shared with heartfelt concern.
