Samsung C&T Volunteers Collaborate with Habitat Vietnam to Build Home for Vulnerable Family in Ha Tinh

HA TINH, Vietnam, 07 December 2023 – Habitat Vietnam welcomed 15 dedicated volunteers from Samsung C&T from December 4 to December 7, 2023, to build a home for a vulnerable family in Ha Tinh. This volunteer initiative also included visiting Ky Tho Primary School, where the volunteers engaged with students through art and science classes, fostering a spirit of community and education.

This activity is part of the Samsung Village #10 project, a joint initiative funded by Samsung C&T Corporation in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity Korea. The project aims to enhance the quality of life for vulnerable households in Ky Van, Ky Tho, and Ky Hai communes in Ky Anh district, Ha Tinh province. Over the span of 18 months, Habitat Vietnam and Samsung C&T are committed to supporting 54 households through the construction and renovation of houses, providing safe water and sanitation facilities to 184 people, and equipping 450 students with Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) facilities and smart libraries.

Additionally, the project aims to facilitate the capacity building of more than 1,360 community members and local officials in disaster preparedness, safe housing practices, and WASH initiatives. This comprehensive approach seeks to create sustainable improvements in living conditions and resilience within the community.

Ms. Maricelle Regino-Borja, National Director of Habitat for Humanity Vietnam, highlighted the significance of the collaboration: “This partnership between Habitat Vietnam and Samsung C&T is instrumental in both addressing the immediate needs of vulnerable communities and improving their resilience against disasters.

The volunteer activity contributes to the construction of homes and allows the volunteers to gain firsthand insight into the project’s impact and the community’s pressing needs. This direct engagement fosters a deeper understanding of the local context and reinforces both organizations’ commitment to creating positive change.

The impact of this initiative is set to expand further with the imminent launch of Samsung Village #11 in Dong Nai province later this month./.
